Upon publication last year of Northward Through Darkness, a hue and cry went up among some Vadavian followers who took exception to the release of previously unprinted materials by the author. While we can appreciate such concern for the preservation of the hallowed author’s secretive reputation, the literary world will, we believe, benefit in the main by exposure to a larger body of Vadavian’s works. And so, herewith, the release of a new trove of heretofore unseen prose and poesy by Apollo Çtrons Vadavian.

Many a word has been written about Vadavia, most of them spelled correctly. The enigmatic nature of the great poet’s compositions has left many with an unsettling sense of emotional discombobulation. And yet, the very frustrations inherent to classifying the author’s style are what have drawn generations of readers to his published works like moon-crazed moths to the dragon’s flame.

As with Northward Through Darkness, you will not leave these pages the same person you were when you found them. Here, you will find the usual derelict pairings of love and dismay, bitterness and compassion, dogs and monkeys, flowers and snow. And through it all you will witness the genius that is Vadavian’s unparalleled talent for laying upon the blank page word after word of tender emotion masked by deceptive imagery.

Try to know him by his works, and you will come away feeling as though you have strainted to hear a whisper through a storm. But try to un-know him by his works, and you will come away enriched.
